About us

Pinnacle Volleyball Education was started in 2018 to help provide athletes and coaches advanced training and education. PVE takes pride in offering custom growth opportunities rather than cookie cutter clinics and camps. It is owned and operated by Ray Costa. We use an extensive network of coaches to provide a wide array of services for athletes and coaches throughout the country.

Costa spent 14 years in the college ranks as a coach. He started as a student assistant with York College of PA’s women’s team before taking on the head coaching position of their men’s club program. The women’s team advanced to the CAC Championship in his senior year. The men’s club team which won only a handful of games his first year as coach, finished ranked Top 25 in NIRSA his senior year.

His first full time coaching position came as an assistant at Washington & Lee University. While at W&L Costa’s athletes earned 6 All-American honors, went undefeated in conference play, earned 3 national rankings, and advanced to the NCAA DIII Sweet 16.

Costa was then named the Head Coach at Marietta College. While at Marietta the Pioneers made 6 OAC Tournament appearances, and earned their first home OAC Tournament match since 1985. Costa was also the first coach to take a Pioneer team overseas where they competed in Spain.

In addition to his experience on the college court, Costa has served as a HS Athletic Director, and coached youth aged athletes in clubs, school, and camps. Costa has extensive experience owning and operating his own camps and coaching clinics from his time as a college coach. Costa has also worked a significant number of other camps including, the Tri-State Elite Camp, and those at the University of Illinois, University of North Carolina, University of Notre Dame, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech University, Wake Forest University, and Liberty University.

Costa has a BS in Secondary Education Math, and a Masters in Sports Leadership. He is currently a middle school math teacher. He has two children, Evan and Audrey, and a dog Finn.
